Prof. Dr. med., Dr. h.c. (SMUJ) Arsen Babayan

Specialist in micro-invasive spine and joint surgery

Developer of the MIBRAR® system — a gentle surgical method that, in many cases, helps avoid extensive interventions and joint replacement. Professor Babayan performs the modern MIBRAR® technique personally, giving individual attention to each patient.

The professor specializes in minimally invasive techniques for treating degenerative and traumatic changes of the spine and joints, using his own development — the MIBRAR® system.

Dear patients,

I am delighted to introduce you to the MIBRAR® System. My focus lies in the area of regenerative reconstruction. The MIBRAR® System makes it possible to avoid open surgery, endoprosthetics, artificial implants and synthetic medication.

Striving to resolve pathologies of the body naturally, in a tissue-preserving way and without artificial means, I set myself the goal of treating as many pathologies as possible regeneratively. Based on many years of surgical experience, I sought to replace conventional methods that use artificial body replacement parts or synthetic agents with the possibilities of natural, regenerative bodily processes.

In 2004, I began applying regenerative stem-cell treatments in trauma surgery and orthopedic surgery. Combining the refinement of minimally invasive surgical techniques with progress in regenerative medicine, I developed the MIBRAR® System through years of trials and research. In 2014, I completed the development of the MIBRAR® System.

The MIBRAR® treatment system is a combination of an exclusively micro-invasive surgical technique and stimulation of tissue regeneration and structural reconstruction of the body. In addition to its unique way of performing procedures, MIBRAR® relies solely on substances produced by the body itself, applied in a transformed form, sustainably supporting the regeneration process up to the complete reconstruction of the affected treatment site.

Yours, Prof. Arsen Babayan

Patient Testimonials

My regained quality of life!!! Professor Babayan is the specialist I trust most completely.

In April 2017 I suffered a severe herniated disc at L5/S1. The disc had bulged into the spinal canal and completely compressed the nerve root. All conservative treatments — physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic, physical therapy — were unsuccessful. In August 2017 I met Professor Babayan, who explained his self-developed treatment method in detail — performed without incisions, without permanent scars, and without anesthesia, on an outpatient basis.

I was operated on in September 2017. The procedure caused no notable pain — I could even watch on the X-ray screen. The next day, after the final check-up, I was able to go home almost pain-free. Complete freedom from pain took 3 months.

Since the underlying cause of the L5/S1 herniation was the disc at L4/L5, I had a second operation in early May 2020 to reconstruct it — without complications. Afterward I stood perfectly straight, am now 1.5 cm taller, and remain pain-free to this day.

Anke Menzel (July 2020)
Diagnosis: Herniated disc in the lumbar spine at L5/S1

Immediately after the procedure: pain-free, a very “elastic, relaxed” feeling in the back; able to walk without pain when leaving the clinic. 1–2 weeks later: essentially symptom-free and stable. After 3 months: spine symptom-free and normally resilient, no longer needing a back brace. After 9 months: still symptom-free; skiing was no problem after just 5 months!

Eva S. (July 2016)
Diagnosis: Herniated disc, stenosis, spondylolisthesis at multiple levels

A perfect result after the operation. For the first time in a long while I can walk pain-free. I have also forgotten about my back pain. Many thanks to the Professor and his staff for their outstanding work!

Andrej (September 2015)
Diagnosis: Spinal canal stenosis, herniated disc in the lumbar spine

Now I walk much faster, my limp is far less pronounced, and for the first time in 15 years I was able to walk down stairs on my own. Noticeable relief when walking just 2–3 days after surgery.

Francisco (May 2015)
Diagnosis: Osteophyte formation, bilateral gonarthrosis and ankle arthrosis

I had severe pain in my knee and severe nerve pain in my lower back. After several intra-articular injections of my own cells into the knee, the thumb base joints, and the L4/5 region, I have been symptom-free ever since — with no restriction of movement whatsoever.

Waltraud W. (June 2016)
Diagnosis: Medial gonarthrosis of the left knee, bilateral thumb saddle joint arthrosis, severe nerve pain in the lumbar spine after disc surgery in 1993
